Grow On

And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men 1Samuel 2:26 If there is anything the Lord wants from us as believers, it is the willingness to press on in Him. The ability to move ahead with divine pace. God wants us to be like Apostle Paul, who pressed on toward the mark fro the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

This is exactly what we see in the life of Samuel. A national Prophet! We do not have it recorded that Prophet Samuel was at any point stagnant in his walk with the Lord. We have the account of how he started out in the ministry, and latter it was recorded that Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord and with men. The word, “grew on” caught my attention. Samuel did not grow away neither did he grow off. He grew on. He did not backslide.

He grew stronger and stronger. It is a sad thing when a believer turns his back on the faith. It is sad when a believer grow weary. It is sad to hear of someone who was once on fire for the Lord but now is unable to light a candle. I hate to see such. I am sure that the Lord is unhappy at such. Now can we do to grow on? How can we constantly keep the fire burning? Firstly, it is by determination. Apostle Paul said, “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified” 1Corinthians 2:2. The problem with the modern day believer is that he is interested in too many things. Mostly which are junk! Paul decided and determined to know nothing else except Jesus Christ. You will grow weak and weaker if you do not prioritize your life. Secondly, you have to walk with friends who will constantly encourage and challenge you in your walk with God. Iron sharpens iron. He who walks with the wise shall be wise. Thought Focus: If you grow weary and off, it is your fault! Prayer: Anything assigned by the Devil to quench my fire, I defeat you in Jesus name.
